In a desperate attempt to discredit the peace efforts of ex-agitator leaders in the Niger Delta, a sponsored group of non-Niger Delta protesters gathered outside the Federal High Court in Abuja today, brandishing placards and spreading false accusations against Dr. Dennis Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), and High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo).
Investigations by Third Phase Media reveal that none of the so-called protesters are from the Niger Delta region. Reliable sources confirmed that they were allegedly hired by political actors bent on destabilizing the ongoing peace and reintegration processes championed by Tompolo and other amnesty leaders.
The protest, which falsely accused Dr. Otuaro and Tompolo of “human rights abuses” and “illegal detentions,” has been described by regional observers as a cheap blackmail tactic designed to mislead President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, and the NNPC Limited about the true situation in the Niger Delta.
Third Phase Amnesty Leadership Condemns Fake Narrative
Speaking to Frontnaija News, a senior member of the Third Phase Presidential Amnesty Programme dismissed the protest as “baseless, malicious, and politically motivated.”
These are paid agitators, not Niger Delta people,” he stated. “The aim is to paint Tompolo and Dennis Otuaro in a bad light and slow down the Federal Government’s peace initiative. But we will not allow blackmail to derail the progress achieved under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”
He further emphasized that Dr. Dennis Otuaro’s leadership has brought renewed confidence among ex-agitators and stakeholders through transparent empowerment, skill acquisition, and reconciliation programs that continue to uplift thousands of beneficiaries across the region.
Real Niger Delta Stakeholders Stand With Tompolo and Otuaro
Across Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, and Ondo States, genuine Niger Delta stakeholders have reaffirmed their support for the Amnesty Programme under Dr. Otuaro, praising Tompolo’s unwavering commitment to peace, pipeline security, and national stability.
Tompolo is a man of peace, not violence,” said Gen. T.D. Dollar Slaboh, National Chairman of the Third Phase Presidential Amnesty Programme. “Those behind these fake protests should know that the Niger Delta stands united for peace and progress.”
Call for Security and Media Agencies to Investigate
The Third Phase leadership is urging the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Police Force, and media regulators to investigate the source of the propaganda and expose the sponsors behind the misinformation.
This kind of blackmail not only undermines peace but also distracts from the real work being done to empower the youth and sustain stability in the oil-rich region,” the statement added.
