According to sources, her supposed “crime” was not meeting the age and enrollment criteria for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), which is strictly for internal school candidates. In contrast, exams like WAEC-GCE and NECO-GCE are designed as external exams open to everyone, regardless of age or school enrollment status. This is why candidates are allowed to wear mufti (casual wear) rather than school uniforms during those exams. It’s important to note that one of the core requirements for WASSCE is that candidates must be enrolled students and must fill in the name of their secondary school during registration. This incident raises a critical question:> Should age determine one’s right to education? What are your thoughts?
