On Wednesday, June 12, 2025, the National Chairman of the Third Phase Presidential Amnesty Programme, General Elaye Dollar Slaboh, led a powerful Solidarity Walk in honor of the new Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, in what has been described as one of the most unified and peaceful demonstrations of support in recent times within the Niger Delta.

The event, which coincided with Nigeria’s Democracy Day, drew enthusiastic participation from across the region, including representatives from Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa, and Ondo States. Present were state chairmen of the Third Phase Amnesty structure, their executives, grassroots leaders, community influencers, and programme beneficiaries.

The walk served as a strong statement of unity, support, and renewed hope under Dr. Otuaro’s leadership. In his public address following the walk, General Slaboh thanked all those who made the effort to travel from far and near to attend the event. He praised their loyalty to the ideals of peace, progress, and development in the Niger Delta and expressed optimism that the new leadership under Dr. Otuaro would revitalize the Amnesty Programme. But in a powerful political note, General Slaboh used the platform to openly advocate for continued national support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu beyond 2027, describing him as a listening leader who has demonstrated strategic commitment to the Niger Delta by appointing a capable son of the soil—Dr. Otuaro—as Administrator.

We see hope. We see direction. The appointment of Dr. Dennis Otuaro is not just political—it is transformational. This shows that President Tinubu understands the region’s peculiar needs and is ready to consolidate peace through meaningful inclusion. That is why we are saying here today that come 2027, the Niger Delta will stand solidly behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” General Slaboh declared to a cheering crowd. He emphasized that the President’s recognition of credible grassroots leaders, and his support for those with deep knowledge of the creeks and communities, marks a turning point for national unity and development.

We will continue to mobilize support for Dr. Otuaro and for President Tinubu, whose vision we now clearly see unfolding. Let this solidarity walk be a message to all doubters—the Niger Delta is united, and we are ready to move forward with the President,” he added.

The event also saw tributes paid to other notable Niger Delta leaders including Godfrey Pondi, Kestin Pondi, and foremost leader and peace ambassador High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), whose leadership continues to be instrumental to the region’s stability. As participants began returning to their respective states, General Slaboh prayed for divine protection and journey mercies for all.
