Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism with the arrest of a 25-year-old woman, identified as Shamsiyya Ahadu, who was allegedly working as an ammunition courier for terrorists in Zamfara State.
According to security sources, Shamsiyya was intercepted in the Badarawa area of Shinkafi Local Government Area while attempting to deliver a large cache of ammunition to the camp of notorious terrorist kingpin, Bello Turji.
Items recovered from her included 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six magazines, which were reportedly concealed and meant to be transported secretly to terrorist enclaves operating in the area.
Further investigations led to the arrest of her accomplice, Ahmed Husaini, a motorcycle rider believed to have been providing logistics and transportation support for the illegal operation.
The arrest is seen as a significant blow to the supply chain of armed groups terrorising communities in Zamfara and neighbouring states. Military authorities have assured that investigations are ongoing to uncover the wider network involved in arms trafficking and terrorist logistics.
Security agencies reiterated their commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist elements and called on residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to aid ongoing operations.
