A disturbing discovery has sent shockwaves through parts of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, after a young lady unearthed a suspected diabolic pot buried beneath the floor of her newly rented shop.According to eyewitness accounts,
the woman had just moved into the shop to start her business when she noticed that one of the floor tiles appeared uneven and suspiciously out of place. Driven by curiosity and concern, she decided to investigate the anomaly by digging up the affected spot.To her utter disbelief, she uncovered a small clay pot carefully buried beneath the tiles.
The pot, described as “diabolic” by locals, appeared to be deliberately planted and was wrapped in red and black cloth — materials often associated with ritualistic or fetish practices in some parts of Nigeria.Community members quickly gathered at the scene, expressing outrage and fear. Some attributed the object to possible juju meant to affect the progress of any new occupant of the shop. Others saw it as a warning sign and urged the lady to vacate the premises immediately.
Security personnel and local authorities were alerted. Though no official statement has been issued yet, traditional leaders in the area have been contacted to conduct cleansing rites, pending further investigations.
This incident has raised serious concerns about the increasing reports of fetish objects being planted in homes and business premises across parts of the Niger Delta. Residents are calling on landlords and real estate agents to properly inspect properties before leasing them to unsuspecting tenants.
