The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has once again taken a swipe at his political rival, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, declaring that he stands no chance in the 2027 presidential race.
Wike, while speaking on the matter, insisted that Nigerians are politically aware and would not entrust the country’s future to someone like Amaechi, whom he described as “the last person any serious political party like the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will consider for a presidential ticket.”
The FCT Minister maintained that Amaechi’s political relevance has long waned, stressing that he has neither the national appeal nor the political structure to contest against more formidable figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
> “Amaechi is wasting his time. Nigerians know better now, and the ADC will not even look his way. He is the last person they will give a presidential ticket,” Wike said firmly.
The verbal exchange between Wike and Amaechi is not new, as both men have been at loggerheads since their days in Rivers State politics, a rivalry that has spilled into the national political arena.
As the 2027 elections draw closer, Wike’s comments are expected to stir further debates within political circles, particularly among supporters of the two Rivers-born political heavyweights.
Fellow Nigerians, what is your take on Wike’s comments? Do you think Amaechi still stands a chance in 2027?
