The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, over his recent criticisms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Wike alleged that Babachir’s attacks are not borne out of genuine concern for good governance but rather out of personal bitterness after Tinubu failed to consider him for the vice-presidential slot in the buildup to the 2023 elections.
According to Wike, Babachir’s disappointment has clouded his judgment, making him more interested in settling personal scores than in speaking for the Nigerian people.
The minister emphasized that while constructive criticism is welcome, leaders should be honest about their motives and not disguise personal grievances as national interest.
This latest political war of words has sparked reactions across the country, especially as Babachir Lawal had been one of the vocal critics of Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2023.
👉 What’s your take on this issue? Do you agree with Wike or do you think Babachir Lawal is raising valid concerns about governance?
