OVIEYA RICE FARM KICK OFF PLANTING AND READY TO FEED BAYELSIAN.
Its another planting season in Ovieya Rice Farm, Famgbe Community, Yenagoa Local Government, Bayelsa State, the management of Ovieya rice kick start the season by clearing the larger portion of the assigned farmland allocated for planting rice.
Clearing of the farmland started three weeks ago and which was left for adequate rains to prepare the land for planting because rice plantation requires much of water moisture on the land. After observing the readiness of the land, seedings was bought and was also prepared for planting.
Landing measurements was also put into consideration for easy passage of movement within the farmland.The planting started as at 9a.m 19/06/2025 and lasted for 2 and half hours through hand spraying.
The Managing Director of Ovieya rice in person of Mr. Jonah Friday appreciates Niger Delta Development Commission for training him and other rice farmers within the region on easy ways and techniques to use in planting rice. He said that the major aim of him going mechanized in this season is to meet up the rice consumption of Bayelsans.
He urged government and individuals that has interest in farming most especially on rice farming should come in inform of collaboration in order to increase the productivity in Ovieya Rice.
He urged them to watchout Ovieya rice in the next three months in Bayelsa markets likes of Swali market and most of the popular supermarkets in Amarata.
