In a fiery political outburst that has sent shockwaves across the Nigerian political space, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, declared that Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, will never become Nigeria’s president again.
Wike made this declaration during a Thanksgiving Service organized to celebrate the commissioning of completed FCT projects under the Tinubu administration. With his trademark confidence and dramatic delivery, Wike dismissed the ADC Coalition with Peter Obi as a political joke, stating bluntly:
“Peter Obi can never be president again. His time has passed.”
Wike further ridiculed the recent coalition talks and suggested that some politicians are wasting time trying to revive a political dream that has expired.
“All this ADC coalition and drama is dead on arrival. You think politics is noise? Obi had his moment, and it’s over. Nigeria has moved on.”
He also took a swipe at critics of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, hinting at those who once asked for space to criticize the government but now cannot stomach the same dose of criticism.
“PBAT: Allow me to criticise Obi, allow me to criticise Obi — well, see the criticism now. The god of Rivers State has spoken!” Wike said jokingly, drawing laughter and applause from the congregation.
