The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced that the emerging political coalition it is part of has not endorsed any presidential aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a media briefing covered by Daily Trust, the party leadership emphasized that while discussions are ongoing with several stakeholders and opposition parties, no individual has been adopted as the coalition’s flag bearer.
The ADC’s National Chairman, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, stated that the coalition’s primary focus is uniting credible forces to rescue Nigeria from its current socio-economic challenges, rather than prematurely endorsing a candidate.> “We are more concerned about building a formidable political structure that can challenge the status quo. The question of a preferred presidential candidate is premature.
When the time is right, Nigerians will decide who leads the coalition,” Nwosu said.This clarification comes amid widespread speculations that the coalition is leaning towards a prominent former governor or an ex-vice president.
The ADC reiterated its commitment to inclusive politics, internal democracy, and national unity, warning against the personalization of political alliances.As Nigeria gradually moves toward the 2027 general elections, the ADC and other coalition members are expected to play a significant role in shaping the future of the country’s democratic direction.
