Passengers traveling along the Kabba-Obajana road in Kogi State faced a horrific ordeal on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, when armed gunmen ambushed a commercial bus. According to reports from Punch News, the attackers opened fire on the vehicle, killing one passenger instantly and abducting three others.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the assailants, suspected to be kidnappers, emerged from a nearby bush and shot sporadically, forcing the bus to a halt. The incident left other commuters scampering for safety, while those abducted were dragged into the forest.
Security operatives were later mobilized to the scene, but the gunmen had already escaped with their victims. The attack has sparked fresh concerns over the growing wave of insecurity on Kogi highways, which have become notorious for kidnappings and deadly ambushes.
The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the incident and assured that efforts are underway to track down the criminals and rescue the abducted passengers.
