The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the Federal Government to take a firm stance against Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), following his recent verbal attacks on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
According to the APC in Rivers, Sowore’s frequent outbursts and criticisms, which they described as “vituperations,” are not only unguarded but also capable of inciting unnecessary tension in the country. The party maintained that while democratic governance encourages free speech, such liberty should not be abused to malign the integrity of the nation’s leadership.
The APC therefore called on the Federal Government to “immediately declare a tough stance” against Sowore, warning that unchecked political recklessness could undermine peace, governance, and the unity of the country.
The Rivers APC further noted that Tinubu, as the Commander-in-Chief, and Wike, as the head of the FCT administration, deserve respect from all quarters, regardless of political affiliations.
