Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has issued a firm call to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oluwatosin Ajayi, demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of Olorogun Ese Kakor, the President of the Neo Black Movement (NBM) of Africa.

Governor Okpebholo’s demand follows rising concerns over the activities of the group, which he described as a growing threat to public peace and security in Edo State and across the country. The governor stressed that the time had come for security agencies to take decisive action against individuals or groups suspected of undermining law and order.

“The safety and well-being of our citizens cannot be compromised. No organization or individual should operate above the law, and it is the responsibility of our security agencies to ensure that those who promote violence or insecurity face the full wrath of the law,” Governor Okpebholo said in a statement made available to FrontNaija News.

He alleged that under Ese Kakor’s leadership, the NBM has continued to operate in defiance of the law, with reports linking members of the group to criminal and cult-related activities. The governor urged the IGP and DSS to launch a thorough investigation and bring all culprits to book, starting with the leadership of the organization.

The Neo Black Movement, which has often described itself as a socio-cultural body, has long faced allegations of being the umbrella body of the Black Axe confraternity — a group notorious for its involvement in cult clashes, internet fraud, and organized crime, both in Nigeria and internationally.

“This is not just about Edo State. It is about protecting Nigeria’s image and ensuring a safe society for future generations. We must not wait until things get out of hand,” the governor added.

Governor Okpebholo further reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting law enforcement agencies in the fight against cultism, criminality, and all forms of social menace.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor the DSS has issued an official response to the governor’s call.
