The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, on Monday, May 13, 2024, visited the Anglican Hospital Diocese of Kubwa and the Anglican Comprehensive Secondary School, both located in the Kubwa district of Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.

During the visit, Obi donated the sum of N10 million each to the two institutions, making a total of N20 million. He stated that the donations were aimed at supporting critical sectors—education and healthcare—that are key to national development and poverty alleviation.

At the Anglican Hospital, Obi was received by church leaders, medical personnel, and community representatives. He applauded the hospital’s efforts in providing affordable healthcare to residents of Kubwa and neighboring areas. He emphasized the importance of strengthening primary and secondary healthcare delivery across the country, especially in underserved communities.

Obi later proceeded to the Anglican Comprehensive Secondary School, where he addressed students and staff. He encouraged the students to remain focused and committed to their studies, assuring them that quality education remains a pathway to a better future. He reiterated his belief that investment in human capital development—especially through education—is the most sustainable way to build a strong and prosperous nation.

Obi also used the opportunity to call on well-meaning Nigerians and political leaders to contribute more directly to the lives of citizens through similar gestures, rather than waiting for government alone to address all challenges.

The visit sparked excitement among residents and was praised widely on social media, with many describing Obi’s action as an example of people-centered leadership.
