The Niche News published by: www.frontnaija.com—ABUJA — In a political twist few saw coming, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly ordered a sweeping probe into Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike following allegations of a $3.6 billion land allocation scandal involving his son, Joaquin Wike.
The revelations stem from an explosive report published by The niche, where Niger Delta elder stateswoman Chief Rita Lori-Ogbebor accused the FCT administration under Wike of forcefully taking over her late husband’s legally acquired land and reassigning it to a private company with links to the Minister’s son.
The lands in question are located in prime Abuja districts—including Maitama, Asokoro, and Guzape—and reportedly carry a combined market value of over $3.6 billion, making it one of the biggest real estate scandals in the capital’s history.
According to credible sources within the Presidency, Tinubu has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to conduct a full investigation into the allegations, which include abuse of office, conflict of interest, and fraudulent land transfers.
No Sacred Cows,” Says Presidency Inside top aide to the President, speaking under condition of anonymity, stated:> “President Tinubu is committed to transparency. If any official—no matter how close—has crossed the line, there must be consequences. The rule of law must prevail.
The development is especially striking given Wike’s prominent role in national politics and his perceived closeness to Tinubu during and after the 2023 elections.
Analysts say the decision to investigate him signals Tinubu’s willingness to distance himself from political baggage.
