As Nigeria’s 2027 political chessboard begins to form, internal tremors continue to shake the foundation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). A major twist has emerged, this time from Jigawa State, as Aminu Ibrahim Ringim — the 2023 NNPP governorship candidate — has made explosive claims that could reignite old wounds within the PDP.

In a stunning interview with BBC Hausa, Ringim accused former Governor Sule Lamido of being the true architect of PDP’s enduring crisis, insisting that Nyesom Wike is only a student of Lamido’s destructive political playbook.

🗣️ “Lamido, Not Wike, Is PDP’s Real Problem” — Ringim

Ringim’s comments came as a direct response to Lamido’s controversial remarks at a PDP event in Kirikasamma Local Government Area. There, Lamido openly declared that although he remains a PDP member, he will support the ADC coalition ahead of the 2027 elections — a move reminiscent of Wike’s flirtation with the APC in 2023.

According to Ringim, this is hypocrisy at its peak.

“Wike only copied what Lamido started in 2013. Lamido’s actions were the real reason PDP lost in 2015. He drove away powerful leaders like Kwankwaso and Wike. If those seven states — including Kano and Jigawa — had stayed, APC would never have taken power,” Ringim asserted.

⚠️ Ringim Lists Lamido’s “Sins”:

Expulsion of Kwankwaso and Wike from the party

Alienation of political heavyweights like Ibrahim Saminu Turaki and Ahmad Muhammad

Collapse of PDP structures in Jigawa, Kano, and five other states

Playing the original defection card, long before Wike ever did

“Lamido destroyed PDP’s house and now pretends to be a saviour. God is punishing him. Karma is real,” Ringim said bluntly.

🧠 Context: The PDP’s Lingering Trauma

Lamido’s role in the internal conflicts of the PDP has long been debated. As a founding member and influential northern figure, his fallout with other power brokers like Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Atiku Abubakar led to a significant crack in the party ahead of the 2015 elections — when five governors walked out and later formed part of what became APC’s victory coalition.

Wike, who replicated a similar stance in 2023, has often been cast as the new face of PDP rebellion — but Ringim insists the originator of the divide-and-rule strategy is Sule Lamido.

🗳️ What Next for PDP?

As PDP continues to struggle with internal unity and prepares for 2027, Ringim’s remarks may rekindle debates about loyalty, betrayal, and leadership accountability within the party.

🤔 Questions for Nigerians:

Is Sule Lamido truly the original saboteur of PDP’s fortunes?

Can the PDP recover from its history of internal implosions before 2027?

Will these revelations further damage the party’s already fragile unity?
