Former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has broken his silence regarding the recent political move by ex-Senate President David Mark, who was recently appointed as the National Chairman of the ADC-led coalition after parting ways with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, Wike stated that David Mark’s decision to leave the PDP and join a new coalition was entirely his right and should be respected.
> “People are free to make political decisions. If David Mark feels the ADC-led coalition is where he can contribute meaningfully at this time, that’s his choice. We can’t tie people down in one party forever,” Wike said.
He emphasized that political freedom is a key pillar of democracy and that realignment of interests is normal in the run-up to major elections.
David Mark’s new role in the ADC-led coalition has sparked conversations about potential realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
