A fresh wave of political tension has swept through Nigeria’s upper legislative chamber following the abrupt removal of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from her committee leadership role by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The Senator representing Kogi Central was relieved of her duties as Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Local Content and replaced with Senator Aniekan Bassey, representing Akwa Ibom North East. The change was formally announced during Wednesday’s plenary session.
