Fresh data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revealed that Rivers State received a staggering ₦254.36 billion in federal allocation between March and August 2025. In addition, the state reportedly generated about ₦162 billion in internal revenue within the same period.
This brings the state’s total earnings within six months to ₦416 billion, an amount that should have transformed infrastructure and improved the lives of millions of residents.
However, shocking revelations indicate that no visible developmental projects were executed, while contracts were awarded in secrecy without transparency. The situation took a further twist when it emerged that ₦4 billion was spent on purchasing Land Cruiser jeeps for state assembly members, a controversial expenditure not captured in the state’s official budget.
These revelations have sparked serious concerns over corruption, mismanagement, and lack of accountability in Rivers State’s financial administration. Civil society groups, opposition voices, and concerned citizens are now questioning: “Where has all the money gone?”
