The National Chairman of the Third Phase Presidential Amnesty Programme, General Elaye ThankGod Dollar Slaboh, has called on the Federal Government, the House of Representatives of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Senate to launch a comprehensive probe into the ownership of oil wells and oil blocks in the Niger Delta.

Speaking with journalists from FrontNaija News at his office in Yenagoa on March 11, 2026, Slaboh expressed deep concern over what he described as the marginalization of indigenous people in the ownership of oil assets within their own region.
According to him, the Niger Delta currently hosts 1,481 oil wells and 149 oil fields, yet less than five percent are owned by people from the region.

“We are demanding transparency. The people of the Niger Delta want to know who owns the oil wells and oil blocks operating in our land. We want to see the database showing the true owners of these wells and fields,” Slaboh stated.
He stressed that many of the individuals benefiting from the region’s vast natural resources have little or no connection with the Niger Delta and are unfamiliar with the environmental and socio-economic challenges faced by local communities.

“The people who have never set foot in our communities and do not understand the suffering of our people are the ones enjoying the wealth generated from our land,” he added.
Slaboh therefore urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently look into the demand and ensure fairness, transparency, and greater participation of Niger Delta indigenes in the ownership and management of oil assets in the region.

He maintained that addressing the issue would not only promote justice but also strengthen peace, stability, and development in the Niger Delta.
