Yenagoa, Bayelsa State — A coordinator of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, General Elaye ThankGod Dollar Slaboh, has dismissed rumours circulating on social media alleging that the Federal Government has terminated the company’s oil pipeline surveillance contract in the Niger Delta.
Speaking during an interview session, General Slaboh described the reports as false, misleading, and unfounded, urging stakeholders, community leaders, and youths across the region not to be deceived by misinformation being spread on various platforms.
According to him, the oil pipeline surveillance contract remains a critical component in Nigeria’s fight against crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism, stressing that the initiative has played a significant role in protecting national assets and boosting crude oil production in the country.
“As one of the coordinators of the surveillance operations, my responsibility is to strengthen coordination among field operatives, host communities, and security agencies to ensure effective monitoring and protection of oil pipelines and facilities across the Niger Delta,” he stated.
General Slaboh further clarified that there has been no official communication from the Federal Government indicating that the surveillance contract with Tantita has been terminated, describing the rumour as an attempt to create unnecessary tension in the region.
He also highlighted several achievements recorded by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited since it commenced operations, including:
Significant reduction in crude oil theft across the Niger Delta region.
Discovery and dismantling of hundreds of illegal refining sites and crude oil tapping points.
Protection of major oil pipelines and facilities, leading to improved operational stability.
Contribution to the increase in Nigeria’s crude oil production, which had previously declined due to massive oil theft and pipeline vandalism.
Employment opportunities for thousands of youths from host communities, helping to reduce restiveness in the region.
He noted that the collaboration between surveillance operatives, host communities, and security agencies has been instrumental in safeguarding oil infrastructure and restoring confidence in the oil sector.
General Slaboh therefore called on the Federal Government, community leaders, and youths in the Niger Delta to continue supporting the surveillance initiative, emphasizing that the success of the programme depends largely on the cooperation of local communities.
He reaffirmed that Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited remains committed to working with relevant authorities and stakeholders to protect Nigeria’s oil assets, sustain improved oil production, and maintain peace and economic stability in the Niger Delta region.
