The National Chairman of the Third Phase Presidential Amnesty Programme and Bayelsa State Coordinator of Tantita Security Services, General Elaye Dollar Slaboh, marked Boro Day by hosting a strategic gathering of stakeholders and ex-agitators within his local environment.

The event, held in honor of Major Isaac Adaka Boro, served as a reminder of the unyielding spirit of the late Niger Delta freedom fighter who championed justice, equity, and self-determination for his people.

In his keynote address, Gen. Slaboh emphasized the urgent need for unity and renewed commitment among Niger Deltans, especially the youth and ex-agitators.

“We must not allow the vision of our father to die in our time,” he stated. “This is a critical moment to strengthen our unity, reject the pull-down syndrome, and avoid betrayal that can derail the collective struggle. Boro played his part—it’s now our duty to carry the torch forward.”

Remembering Boro’s Legacy

Major Isaac Adaka Boro, the leader of the historic Twelve-Day Revolution in 1966, remains a symbol of fearless resistance and dedication to the liberation of the Niger Delta. His core values included:

Justice – Fighting for fair treatment and political inclusion.

Equity – Challenging the economic marginalization of oil-producing communities.

Resource Control – Advocating for indigenous control of natural resources.

Self-Determination – Upholding the right of Niger Deltans to chart their own political and economic future.

Courage – Facing powerful opposition without fear.

Sacrifice – Giving his life for the dignity and freedom of his people.

Gen. Slaboh reminded attendees that these principles must guide the present generation. He called for peaceful advocacy, purposeful engagement, and collective focus on regional development.

“Boro Day is more than remembrance—it’s a call to action,” he concluded. “Let us honor Boro by staying united and keeping the flame of his vision alive.”

As the Niger Delta continues to navigate political and economic challenges, Gen. Slaboh’s Boro Day gathering stands as a timely reminder that the struggle for justice and equity is far from over—and that unity remains the region’s most powerful weapon.
