In a bold and scathing remark that is currently sending shockwaves through Nigeria’s political landscape, former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung, has launched a blistering attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), warning them of an inevitable electoral defeat in the 2027 general elections—regardless of any manipulation or institutional control they may try to exercise.Speaking during a media interview, Dalung said:

Even if President Tinubu appoints his son, Seyi Tinubu, as the Chairman of INEC, and makes his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, or if INEC finally becomes the last institution to decamp to APC, the people will still defeat them in 2027.

Dalung, known for his fearless and independent political views, expressed deep concern over what he described as the rapid collapse of Nigeria’s democratic institutions under APC rule, accusing the current leadership of weaponizing public offices for selfish and partisan purposes. He stated that the will of the people remains supreme, and no amount of electoral manipulation, nepotistic appointments, or institutional compromise would stop the looming political revolution that awaits in 2027.

This government is making the same arrogant mistakes of the past. They think power is permanent, but 2027 will humble many. Nigeria is bigger than any political party or family.

His comments have reignited debates across social and political circles about the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral process, the independence of key institutions like INEC and the judiciary, and the growing public dissatisfaction with the APC-led administration.

With the 2027 general elections still over a year away, Dalung’s explosive statement may be an early sign of what could become a fierce battle for the soul of the nation.
