A respected elder statesman from the Niger Delta, High Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, has set off a storm of controversy with a damning accusation against the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
In a no-holds-barred interview with Oriental Times, Chief Sara-Igbe claimed that Wike’s record of betrayal dates back to his early years — a character flaw that, according to him, even led to Wike being disowned by his own father.> “Wike has always been known for betrayal.
He betrayed his biological family and was disowned by his father. Later, the political family that adopted and raised him to power, he equally turned his back on them,” the elder statesman declared.According to Chief Sara-Igbe, Wike’s political rise was made possible by benefactors who trusted and empowered him. However, once he gained influence, he allegedly turned on them, choosing personal ambition over loyalty and principle.
This statement comes amidst ongoing political tension in Rivers State and Abuja, with Wike at the center of several disputes involving both former PDP allies and current APC stakeholders. Critics argue that his controversial political moves — including working against his own party during the 2023 presidential elections — highlight a deep pattern of disloyalty.
Chief Sara-Igbe further warned Nigerians and political leaders not to be deceived by Wike’s “strategic smiles,” stating:> “Wike will only stay loyal as long as it benefits him. The moment you are no longer useful to his ambition, he will stab you in the back.
It’s not politics for him — it’s survival at any cost.”The explosive remarks have ignited a fresh wave of reactions across the country, especially as political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 elections. With questions of trust, integrity, and loyalty becoming central in Nigeria’s political discourse, the words of High Chief Sara-Igbe may become a defining warning to those aligning themselves with one of the most controversial figures in Nigeria’s current political space.
