In a historic moment that has filled the hearts of millions of Nigerians with pride, five brilliant students from Delta State have emerged World Champions at the 2025 World School Debate Championship held in Doha, Qatar.
The outstanding team members — Wisdom Chukwuma, Otorvo Uyoyou, Abraham Honour, Ekhamateh Splendour, and Alika Daniel — represented Nigeria and triumphed over top contenders from countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Singapore, and Australia.
This marks Nigeria’s first-ever global victory at the prestigious international debating event, considered the “Olympics of public speaking and intellectual combat” among high school students.
The Delta-born champions stunned the judges with their clarity of argument, team coordination, depth of knowledge, and passion for global issues, winning the hearts of both the audience and panelists. Their winning debate, themed “AI Governance and Ethics in Global Education,” showcased the Nigerian students’ intellectual excellence and moral depth.Reactions have poured in:
