📍AKURE — Former Minister of Interior and ex-Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has issued a bold declaration that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is ready to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Aregbesola—who now serves as Interim Secretary of the ADC—called on party members to set aside their differences, unite, and work towards rescuing the nation from what he described as the “current drift and despair.”

In a political twist that stunned many, Aregbesola, a longtime ally of President Tinubu, has now positioned himself as a key figure in the growing coalition of opposition parties aiming to upend APC’s dominance.

“The ADC has garnered significant support from prominent opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, who are backing the party as a coalition movement platform aimed at challenging President Bola Tinubu in the next election,” Aregbesola announced.

He emphasized that only unity, sacrifice, and a common vision can ensure success at the ballot box in 2027, adding:

“Let us work together, let us put personal interests aside and let’s get united. We still have time, but it’s a big task. If we unite, we won’t be defeated in the elections. Unity is very paramount in this situation.”

The ADC leadership also assured its state chairmen of active inclusion in ongoing coalition negotiations, reaffirming the party’s grassroots strength and national reach.

Also throwing his weight behind the movement is Professor Pat Utomi, convener of Nigeria’s Shadow Government, who expressed optimism about the effectiveness of the multi-party coalition in ousting the APC.

Aregbesola issued a rallying cry to fence-sitters and disenchanted politicians to join hands with the ADC, stressing the urgency of salvaging Nigeria from what he described as a “looming precipice.”
