Bayelsa State – The 2025 edition of the Bayelsa Youth Leadership Award, chaired by Comr. Atti Joshua Moses and his organising team, has honoured Gen. Elaye ThankGod Dollar Slaboh for his outstanding leadership and commitment to youth empowerment across the Niger Delta.

Comr. Atti explained that the award was designed to celebrate youth leaders who have gone beyond personal interest to drive state and community development in key sectors such as Agriculture, Entertainment, Entrepreneurship, Governance, and Leadership. The recognition, he noted, aligns with the ideals of the United Nations’ World Youth Day, which focuses on building youth capacity for a better future.

Gen. Slaboh was officially decorated with the title “Defender of Liberty of the Year 2025”, a testament to his consistent role in promoting opportunities, defending youth rights, and creating avenues for empowerment.

This isn’t his first major recognition — in 2024, the Managing Director of the Bayelsa State Community and Social Development Agency (N.G CARES), during a ceremony at the NUJ Secretariat, named him “Pillar of the Niger Delta Youths”. That honour came as a result of his numerous empowerment initiatives and unwavering advocacy for young people’s inclusion in decision-making.

Speaking after receiving the latest award, a visibly moved Gen. Slaboh delivered a heartfelt and energetic message:

> “I never knew people were taking note of my efforts. I am shocked and overwhelmed by this honour. This award is not just for me — it is for every young person who refuses to give up, every youth who believes their dream is valid, and every one of us working for a better Bayelsa and Niger Delta.

The strength of a society is measured by the courage of its youth. My commitment is simple — to keep the doors of opportunity open, to defend the liberty of our youth, and to ensure that no voice is silenced because of poverty or lack of support. Together, we will rise, we will lead, and we will win for our generation!”

Gen. Slaboh went on to dedicate the award to the National Leadership of the Third Phase Presidential Amnesty Programme and the entire Third Phase family, stressing that this recognition would not have been possible without the unwavering support of his executive members.

From grassroots empowerment drives to policy-level advocacy, Gen. Slaboh’s work continues to make a mark across Bayelsa and beyond.
