Abuja, Nigeria — Parents stormed the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Bwari on Friday, November 22, to hurriedly pick up their children after the Federal Government ordered the temporary closure of 47 Unity Colleges over rising insecurity nationwide.
Students were seen leaving the school premises in droves, dragging their luggage as security personnel looked on. Many parents arrived as early as dawn to ensure their children were safely evacuated.
In a statement signed by Ali Ibrahim, Acting PRO of FGGC Bwari, the school confirmed the shutdown, calling it a “precautionary measure” in response to current security threats.
The closure follows the recent spike in mass abductions of schoolchildren across the North-West and North-Central regions, raising fear among parents and education stakeholders.
As tension grows, families continue to demand stronger security measures to protect students in federal schools.
