High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, on Monday paid a condolence visit to Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, at the Government House, Yenagoa, following the painful demise of the state’s Deputy Governor.
The visit came amid a solemn atmosphere of grief across Bayelsa State, underscoring Tompolo’s deep sense of responsibility, brotherhood, and respect for constituted authority within the Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta region.
A revered Ijaw leader deeply rooted in tradition and culture, Tompolo expressed his heartfelt condolences to Governor Diri, the Bayelsa State Government, and the entire people of the state over what he described as an irreparable loss. He urged the governor to remain strong and resolute during this difficult time, noting that the late Deputy Governor made significant contributions to governance and the overall development of Bayelsa State.

Following the visit to Government House, Tompolo proceeded to the Yenagoa residence of former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR, where he paid homage to the elder statesman. Also among the entourage of High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) was the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, whose presence underscored the institutional support and solidarity of the Presidential Amnesty Programme with the Bayelsa State Government during the period of mourning.
Political observers noted that the condolence visit reaffirmed Tompolo’s commitment to peace, unity, and respect for constituted authority, as well as his continued support for leaders working toward stability and progress in Bayelsa State and the wider Niger Delta region.
