Early Life and Education
Born on October 23, 1962, in Zaria, Kaduna State, to the family of the late Chief Alfred Cinime Akenge and the late Chief Mrs. Felicia Ebiyorobo Akenge of Yenagoa Town in Bayelsa State, Chief Akenge’s journey has been marked by intellect, purpose, and service.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Port Harcourt (1984), a Master’s degree in Environmental Technology (M.Tech) from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, and a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Management from Imo State University (2007).
In 2002, he furthered his professional growth at the Summit Institute for Sustainable Development, Johannesburg, earning a certificate in Chemical–Environmental Information Network Training.

For over four decades, Chief Akenge has exemplified the blend of technical expertise and moral passion that defines true environmental stewardship.
From his days as Founder of the University of Port Harcourt Conservation Club (1981) and Maiduguri Conservation Club (1987) to the creation of the Green Croc Foundation (1991), he has driven major environmental education, reforestation, and sustainable development initiatives.
The Green Croc Foundation pioneered partnerships with the Federal and State Governments, UNDP, UNICEF, UNEP, and the World Bank, leading projects that transformed communities and fostered eco-conscious leadership.
