Kebbi State, Nigeria – November 23, 2025

Muhammad Dantani, the District Head of Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, has revealed shocking details about the recent attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in his community.

According to a report by Punch, police officers stationed near the school reportedly refused to confront the bandits, claiming the attackers were too numerous and heavily armed.

Dantani explained, “When the bandîts arrîved, the police officers said they took cover because the attackers were far too numerous and opening fire would have meant certain death. The number of bandits and their level of firepower were overwhelming.”

He added that the bandits roamed freely within the school from 1:30 a.m. to 3:30 a.m., highlighting the vulnerability of students and staff during the attack.

While Dantani empathized with the police officers’ fear for their lives, he expressed concern that the lack of resistance allowed the assailants to operate unchecked.

This incident raises urgent questions about the security of schools in northern Nigeria and the preparedness of law enforcement to protect students.
